The Minecraft series has passed 100 million sales worldwide, across all platforms.

No more doubt allowed, Minecraft is a phenomenon, and the Mojang block-building game has now passed 100 million sales worldwide, across all platforms. The game is available on many devices, such as PC of course, but also Mac, mobile phones and of course video game consoles. To be truly precise, Minecraft has sold more than 106,859,714 copies to date.

To give you an idea, if each person that bought a copy of Minecraft formed a nation, it would be the 12th most populous in te world, behind giants like Russia, Mexico and Japan. Mojang announces that the Minecraft Community includes folks from every country and territory on the planet. The brand is proud to have sold 4 copies to crafters in Antarctica !

Over 40 million people every month spend time adventuring, exploring and building things in Minecraft. Or course, this huge success can be attributed to the open structure of the game, and players car build whatever they have in mind, with simple and colorful blocks. A limitless creativity that touched a very large bunch of players, young and old, but that is also used in the classroom and various places to stimulates creativity and imagination.

Remember that Microsoft will propose a HoloLens version of Minecraft in the future, and that the series will soon be turned into an education version. Minecraft should logically continue to sell heavily and is now at the second position of the best-selling video games of all times, behind the legendary Tetris, with 495 millions of copies sold.
