Windows Live Messenger finally found its way to the AppStore, with the official release of the application, which has been in the works for several months now, and is compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch. The app also runs on the iPad, but it is clearly not optimized for that device.
Just like the next version of Live Messenger, this iPhone version focuses on social network, with the possibility to visualise our contacts status coming from Facebook, MySpace, Flickr... directly on the front page. The application is divised in 4 parts, the first one is used for social network news, the second display the contacts list, the third one regroups our discussions and the last one is used to see/share photos via Windows Live. This iPhone version also enable push notifications, so the user can receive message alerts even when the app is not running.
The Windows Live Messenger official application is now available for free, directly from the AppStore.
