Seems like Apple and its iPad have rekindled interest in the tablet market, since Microsoft should soon give some details about the slate developped with HP, and now with Sony, that shows a real interest in developping a home made tablet.
During a press conference in Tokyo, Nobuyuki Oneda gave some information about the society's plans regarding the iPad, and the tablet market. "We're confident we have the skills to create a product. Time wise, we are a little behind the iPad but it's a space we would like to be an active player in". The Sony's chief did not give any other details or specifics regarding this hypothetical Sony Tablet, but it sounds clearly that Sony wants to take advantage of the iPad announcement, and its eReader fonctionnality. Sony already released Sony Reader, but the company would probably like to offer a new designed and modern tablet, with enhanced multimedia fonctionnalities and access to the online Sony Store, which purpose is to offer various medias including eBooks, games, music and movies to different products such as Walkman, Bravia TVs and PCs.
