Once its Chrome mobile operating system once launched just a few months ago, it did take a significant market share on this market hold by RIM Blackberry and Apple with its iPhone. Now, in collaboration with the taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC, Google is ready to go one step further and is launching is anxiously expected Google phone : the Nexus One.

Nexus One, a superphone ?
Google introduced earlier today its smartphone saying it was a "super phone". Having said that, how different and superior will the Nexus One be compared to the average smartphones which are now quite full of high technology and software intelligence ? Actually, Android 2.1 is about to be released as an open source program and Google does count on the developers community to create numerous appealing application to be sold in their online application store, just like Apple and the AppStore taught them through their success story. These applications are the ones which would turn a simple smartphone like the Nexus One into a so-called "super phone".

Google selling the Nexus One goes direct
What is making this smartphone so special would, for now, be the way Google is going to sell it. Despite other phone makers, Google is willing to have an open and direct retailing strategy. Therefore, Google immediately after unveiling its smartphone, opened the online store where anybody can buy the One, and even without bundled expensive operator plan like we experienced with the iphone years ago. Yet, pricewise, there is still a limit : without a plan, the Nexus One will be sold $529 which is nowhere near cheap. For now, to lower its price, you may buy the Nexus One along with an At&T plan for a sweeter pricetag of $129. In the following months, Verizon Wireless will enter the operator list of Google's online store as well as Vodaphone for the European market.

Nexus One : the smartphone
Google did not struggle to keep the Nexus One secret like Apple loves to do with its most waned and anxiously expected new products. The Nexus One will run Android 2.1 and comes with 512 MB of storage space and a RAM of 512 Mb. A nice large and well defined screen, AMOLED technology, of 480x800 pixel reminds us the one of Motorola Droid Milestone which also runs Android. Very thin, the One is only 11.5mm thick as you can see on the pictures above and is equipped with a 5 megapixels camera and a LED flash. For its sound, the Nexus One has a 3,5mm jack slot and bluTooth stereo but also a dual microphone which allows dynamic sound cancellation like we admired on the... Motorola Milestone again.
We expect the first review of Google's Nexus One to go online pretty soon.
