Finally 1080p on Youtube

The video site Youtube proposes already offers the possibility to view in so-called HD, but at the maximum definition of 720p, till now. Taking advantage of the progress of high definition, full HD 1080p, screen into most people's living rooms, YouTube will now start offering 1080p content. This is step Youtube had to go through anyway. This move is planned for this week : somewhen within the coming week, Youtube will start broadcasting 1080p videos. This new high quality video site will be seen as an opportunity by many willing to widely spread HD trailers for instance.

Of course, to benefit from this high definition video source, your hardware has to support 1080p. This means a nice recent screen and a pretty powerful desktop computers. Most of laptops will not be able to display such a high quality video content. Yet, you can test your computer abilities with this movie which should be displayed in 1920 x 1080 pixels (1080p). Of course, Youtube will not drop 720p quality which still offers a good compromise between viewing quality and broadband/storage demand.
