8x zoom 25-200mm
In theory, the main quality of the ZR1 seems to be its extreme compactedness despite an 8x optical zoom starting at 25mm which was obtained by using new ultra-thin optical elements: aspherical lenses less than 0.3mm-thick. Besides, its optical stabilization system mega O.I.S. would be, according to the manufacturer, up to twice as efficient as the previous generation. If those data, announced triumphantly, could prove true in practice, it would be a major improvement.

720p video and miniHDMI
It is worth noting the HD ready video mode 1280x720 pixels, at the rhythm of 30 fps and with Face recognition as well as detection. This allows, among other things, locking the AF on the face of a person in particular. We really appreciated the MiniHDMI output to easily view the videos in hi-def on a TV.
