The HMX-U10 is an ultra-thin camcorder which allows recording videos in Full HD and taking photos in 10 megapixels (recording on SD card in option) and was designed to be extremely easy-to-use. With a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and thanks to its CMOS 1/2.3" sensor, it offers the possibility to take photos in 10 megapixels which can then be viewed on the 2" LCD with 154 000 pixels only. But, sold at an interesting price of 179 euros VAT incl., this micro digital camcorder with a groundbreaking design compared to the standards in this domain, unfortunately misses out on the optical zoom, not provided, which make it a simple gadget.... the HMX-U10 only relies on its digital zoom to reframe the recorded scenes, too bad!

Groundbreaking design, recording on SD card allows stylish fancies

The tiny digital camcorder

With dimensions of 56x104x15.5 mm and a weight of only 95g, battery included, the Samsung HMX-U10 shows a wave-like design which totally breaks with the traditional design of pocket camcorders like the famous Sony TG7. For a better handling, it is equipped with the Active Angle Lens which is a conception with an inclination of the lens by 7°, which allows a more natural grip and reduces the tiredness in the wrist and the elbow that one quickly feels with a traditional camcorder. It is very easy, provided a manufacturer thinks of it and does this!

Intelli Studio

The HMX-U10, just like the new K series announced at the same time, offers various systems to make life easier: the built-in software Samsung Intelli Studio, animated vignettes and a versatile system to recharge the battery. For a nearly complete compatibility, the Samsung HMX-U10 includes the software Intelli Studio to play, edit and share movies. You can then connect your camcorder to any computer via USB to modify and read your videos. The main editing functions, like cutting sequences, are available directly on the camcorder. Intelli Studio also allows publishing more easily your content online on the largest websites of video sharing. You can connect to YouTube directly and transfer your movies by simply clicking the "Upload" button.

Full HD, very good, 10-Mpix photo, very good.... no zoom, not good!

Animated vignettes

The function of animated vignettes Samsung makes it easy to search through your various videos. Each video clip recorded on the camcorder is represented by a little vignette on the LCD. You can then scroll over the videos, as each vignette displays a short extract of the selected sequence.

Recharge the camcorder via USB port

The HMX-U10 offers 2 different ways of recharging its battery: either plug it on the mains, using the adaptor provided, in a standard way, or connect it to a computer via the USB port. This is very handy especially when travelling, because provided you can take your computer with you, you can do without bringing the mains charger of the camcorder.
