New smartphone Android Hero, new tactile interface

After the HTC Dream and the HTC Magic, here’s the HTC Hero. The Taiwanese manufacturer has just presented its new Android smartphone, third in its range. The Hero shows the same characteristics as the other Android smartphones, with a streamlined and curved design which follows the shape of the face, but HTC also brought some modifications and new features as regards the interface. Indeed the manufacturer decided to add a software overlay called HTC Sense which offers a different presentation of the Android standards (inspired by TouchFlo 3D) and supports multi-point tactile controls and brings support of the flash format on the Internet.

HTC Hero, it only misses a keyboard

Just like the HTC Magic, the Hero misses out on a physical keyboard and only offers a tactile screen of 3.2 inches with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, with in addition a trackball located on the front. The A-GPS module is coupled with a movement sensor and a digital compass, which proves that the smartphone wants to be "in". Finally, to complete the specs list we could quote the 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, but without flash or Wi-fi and Bluetooth wireless connections.

Main features of the HTC Hero Android

  • 3G+ network- 3.2'' screen, 320 x 480 pixels
  • Qualcomm MSM7200 528 MHz processor
  • 288 MB active memory
  • 512 MB built-in memory + slot for memory card microSD- HTC Sense multi-point interface
