9 month after Panasonic first announced it Lumix G1, with Micro 4:3 mount, Olympus will officially introduce its concept of compact camera with DSLR sensor under the name of E-P1 or E-DP1 as a tribute to the Pen, the legendary analog camera which contributed to build the successful history of Olympus, a 90 year old photography brand.
At the Photokina 2008, last september in Cologne, Germany, Olympus showed the press what its micro 4:3 camera line should look like and we were all quite enthusiastic about this stylish and compact camera, a compact camera, yet, with interchangeable lenses. Panasonic had launched it G1 camera which, unfortunately, lacked of video recording functions and we expect the Olympus E-P1 (or E-DP1) to be equipped with 720p video recording functions from the start which Panasonic G1 users now have to sell their cameras and to switch to the GH1 to be able to record 1080p movies.
Let's meet all here on thedigitalnewsroom.com tomorrow morning to discover what Olympus engineer are coming up with !
