When the MacBook 13" becomes Pro

For those of you who haven’t followed our Live yesterday evening, you’ll be glad to learn that Apple somehow logically announced that the MacBook Unibody 13" would move to the MacBook Pro range. So the old white MacBook remains the only one to keep that name, while the MacBook Pro range becomes more affordable than ever with a starting price of 1.149 Euros.

The MacBook Pro family welcomes a 13" model

The MacBook Pro 13" always more powerful

Now that it is taking its place among the greats, the MacBook Pro 13" must cope in terms of performances. That’s why it now offers processors at 2,26 GHz and 2,53 GHz. Similarly, its RAM can now go up to 8 GB and the hard drive up to 500 GB (or 256 GB for the SSD option).

MacBook and SD Card reader

Apple eventually decided to integrate a memory card reader in its portable machines. So the whole MacBook Pro range will now offer an SD card reader, very handy to transfer your photos, provided your camera or camcorder also uses SD cards...

SD Card reader and FireWire 800 port for the new MacBook Pro 13"

Apple tricks us all with the return of the FireWire

Everyone remembers the outcry caused by the removal of the FireWire port on the MacBook Alu when they were presented in last October. Once more, Apple accepts to back-pedal (and shows that the staff is really listening to customers) while saving face: as the MacBook moves to the Pro range, the Cupertino company can justify the fact that a FireWire 800 port was added. Well done!

Revolutionary battery and 7 hours of battery life for the new MacBook Pro 13"

Although it becomes irremovable, the battery on the new MacBook Pro 13" is meant to be revolutionary in its conception. Indeed, it can be recharged up to 1000 times Vs 200 to 300 times for a standard battery. So this battery is able to offer a 7-hour life for 5 years. If this proves to be true, it should be a real revolution for nomad people used to changing their battery at least every 2 years.

MacBook Pro 13": Lower prices

In this respect, nobody can complain. Indeed, the MacBook Pro 13" has evolved and its price has decreased. The model at 2,26 GHz with 2 GB of RAM and a 160 GB-hard drive is sold 1.149 Euros (-50 Euros compared to the previous generation). AS for the upscale model at 2,53 GHz, 4 GB of RAM and 250 GB of drive, the decrease is of 100 Euros with a price of 1.399 Euros. Of note, these new machines are already available on the Apple Store.
