- 21h04: Phil Schiller sums up the new stuff of the day: new MacBook Pro, iPhone OS 3.0, iPhone 3GS and Snow Leopard.
- 21h01: The iPhone 3G S will be available on June 19 in France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, the USA and Canada. Other countries will have to wait until June 26.
- 21h00: 16 GB at $199, 32 GB at $299. The current iPhone 3G moves to $99 (8 GB).
- 20h58: Better battery: 9h of Internet, 10h of video, 30h of music, 12h in 2G, 5h in 3G. -
- 20h55: "Play the Killers for me!" and the iPod starts. "Play more songs like this one!" and the iPhone launches Genius.
- 20h54: Showing the vocal function. You just have to keep the Menu button pushed and the iPhone performs any task.
- 20h51: The reading window looks like QuickTimeX. You can edit a video very easily and share it (Youtube, MMS, Mail, MobileMe ...)
- 20h50: Best sensitivity to light, automatic macro mode, video function. "Just pat to focus ".
- 20h48: iPhone 3GS: OpenGL, ES 2.0, 3G 7.2 mbps (HSDPA, 3-Mpix camera with autofocus.
- 20h47: Here it comes! Presenting the iPhone 3G S (S for Speed). It is twice faster to launch the SMS app or the game SimCity.
- 20h46: Overview of the competitors of the iPhone. Shares of use on the Internet: 65 % for the iPhone, 9 % for Android, 8 % for Java, 7 % for Symbian.
- 20h43: Phil is back on the stage. The end looks close...
- 20h42: iPhone OS 3.0 will be available for free on June 17. For iPod touch owners, it will cost $9.95.
- 20h41: Apparently, the iPhone v3 isn’t scheduled for today... Too bad!
- 20h35: Presenting Zip Car, a service used by 300 000 people which allows sharing a car with other people in the USA and in England. On the iPhone, the application helps you find the nearest car from where you are. Once you have booked a car, the app lets you open it directly.
- 20h33: More than 1h30 in the keynote and still no iPhone v3!?
- 20h30: Demo of Spark, software which lets you collect, display and analyze scientific information. Scott inflates a balloon, however the demo did not seem to work out.
- 20h29: The demos of applications go on: NGMoco, Star Defence, Spark ...
- 20h23: TomTom finally arrives on the iPhone! The interface seems pleasant and the app integrates the support for accessories. We won’t miss out on writing a detailed article on the TomTom app.
- 20h20: The demos go on with ScrollMotion, Josh Koppel, with digital books for iPhone. Thanks to the application, you can access 50 magazines.
- 20h17: Now, demo of Aistrip CC (Critical Care). The application sends messages to tell if the patient has health troubles. We’ll also notice the possibility to access the vital mesures of the patient in real time. Do you think Steve Jobs uses it?
- 20h13: Gameloft comes to talk about the iPhone OS 3.0 and announces "Asphalt 5". Nice function: you can listen to your iTunes library while you’re plaing.
- 20h10: Now: "Plans". Maps can now be integrated in the applications.
- 20h09: Presenting Peer2Peer.
- 20h06: "Find my iPhone" lets you locate your iPhone on a map if it was lost or stolen, and erase the data remotely. You can even send a message to the thief. How fun!
- 20h05: The audience is getting impatient, most of the improvements were known beforehand. Ah well, new "Find my iPhone" function which helps you… find your iPhone!
- 20h02: Safari on iPhone becomes 3 times faster in Javascript and supports video and audio streaming.
- 19h59: Modem mode for Mac and PC and operates via USB and Bluetooth, provided the operator / telcon accepts. -
- 19h57: New iTunes functionalities: rent and buy movies, series and audio books directly from the iPhone.
- 19h56: Most applications now operate in Landscape mode. Cut/Copy/Paste, MMS, exchanging photos and contacts... There is now an overall Search function.
- 19h55: Presenting the iPhone OS 3.0: 100 new functionalities.
- 19h51: Showing a video in which developers tell their own story... "Here’s how the iPhone changed my life "
- 19h48: Scott Forstall gets on stage. 50 000 Apps on the AppStore, 40 million iPhones / iPods touch sold, 1 billion applications downloaded. All within 9 months... "Thank you!"
- 19h47: Now, let’s talk about the iPhone.
- 19h46: The price of Snow Leopard is announced! 29$ for Leopard users, 129$ for others (but who doesn’t use Leopard?). The audience is ecstatic, the price is really appealing! Available in September.
- 19h45: Drawback: all this only runs with Exchange 2007. So when you think that many companies are still using 2001/2003...
- 19h42: Demo of Exchange which now manages Mail, iCal, Address Book and Spotlight. Exchange is decisive for Apple because it adapts to the functioning of every large companies.
- 19h40: Summary of the 3 major technologies of Snow Leopard: 64-bits, Grand Central and Open CL.
- 19h37: Managing manually the distribution in threads. Bertrand Serlet talks again to mention Grand Central. Grand Central distributes the tasks according to the use made of the system.
- 19h35: We learn that the 64 bits is at the heart of Snow Leopard. This allows taking full advantage of the CPU and of the RAM. Snow Leopard supports up to 16 billion GB of RAM.
- 19h33: Demo of QuickTime X. Visual timeline and very intuitive. You can edit a sequence and share it on YouTube in a click. Here again, the audience seems delighted.
- 19h30: The demo goes on, all the new features are described. Here’s a very promising Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Now let’s see when it will be available and at which price...
- 19h29: Craig Federighi (OS X engineering) is on stage to demo the new "Piles". You can now open sub-files. The system looks really smooth, the audience is won over.
- 19h27: Safari 4 is launched today. Very fast in JS and in HTML. 100% of ACID tests (Internet Explorer = 21%. -
- 19h26: Preview, Glimpse and Mail are twice faster than with avec Leopard.
- 19h25: Installing the system Snow Leopard is 45 % faster and takes 6 GB less of hard drive.
- 19h21: Bertand Serlet (vice-president of development of Apple software) climbs on stage to talk about Mac OS X. Snow Leopard will now be in Cocoa, improved Finder and new "Services" menus.
- 19h18: New CPU for the MacBook Air (2.13 GHz) and lower price: 1499 Euros for the entry-level and 1799 Euros for the 2nd model.
- 19h15: New MacBook and MacBook Pro. The 15" MacBook Pro now integrates a fixed battery and reaches 7 hours of battery life. The Express Card slot becomes an SD card reader. The 13" MacBook also evolves and is called 13" MacBook Pro (1199 Euros).
- 19h10: Given the record audience, ours servers are having some trouble...
- 19h05: Phil reminds us that the WWDC 2009 has been sold out for more than a month. 5200 developers from 54 countries will be attending the WWDC this year.
- 19h01: Lights go off. The conference starts with an ad "I'm a PC"! Phil Schiller then gets on the stage, under the audience applause...
- 18h58: Cellphones must be turned off, the keynote is about to start!
- 18h50: Interesting news: Apple has requested its employees to withdraw all the iPhone 3G from its Apple Stores from this week-end.
- 18h45: The doors of the Moscone Center have just open. The crowd hurries in, everything will start in a few minutes...
- 18h40: To take advantage the 20 minutes left before the keynote starts, have a a look at the new stuff expected. -
- 18h30: The opening keynote of the WWDC 2009 will start in 30 minutes, run by Phil Schiller. Of note, the Apple Stores throughout the world have closed, which indicates that there should be some interesting news.
