Home theatre sound: custom-installed and motorized

How to render the feelings felt in a movie theater, a surrounding sound environment, in your living room, without turning it into shambles with loudspeakers and various cables? KEF unveils its solution: loudspeakers that are set in walls and in the ceiling. An HD TV fixed in the wall is nice, but the sound devices of an installation often remain cumbersome and unaesthetic. KEF pioneers loudspeaker motorization, and brings this concept to its custom-install products.
These loudspeakers remain invisible in the ceiling and only come out when they are necessary to create a surround effect. This allows having the impression that the sound indeed comes from the screen and not from the ceiling: this avoids the unnatural effect of sound directivity (greater on high notes than on low tones, more omnidirectional) of loudspeakers located in the ceiling.

Discreet and technological

Installed in the ceiling, the Ci 3-80QT loudspeakers silently come out as you switch on your home theatre. When you switch it off, they get inside silently as well. As regards technology, this loudspeaker offers the Uni-Q process, for optimum intelligibility and sound aperture. This custom-install loudspeaker Ci 3-80QT only requires 12cm of thickness in the false ceiling to be built-in.

Home automation installation

This motorized loudspeaker leads the way to home automation as it integrates in your home, in an overall automation installation: for example, an expert can set up your installation so that your rolling shutters close down and light dims as the loudspeaker comes down. Dedicated to home cinema, this loudspeaker can also be used for business purposes, as in conference halls.

The Ci3-80QT is part of the 3 motorized products of the Custom KEF range.

Price and availability

The Ci3-80QT is currently sold in KEF-registered stores and fitters, in white that can be painted, at the recommended retail price of 436 euros VAT incl. (each). To render a surround effect, you’ll have to get 5 of these, which will make a total bill of 2 180 euros, without the cost of the installation for which you’ll need a professional fitter.
