Apple coming on terms with Verizon ?
The information come from the newspaper USA Today and was taken up by BusinessWeek yesterday. Top managers of Apple and Verizon are said to have met to talk about launching and selling new Apple products. On the agenda, we could discover a light version of the iPhone and a Media Pad, a kind of tactile Netbook, half-way between an iPhone and a Mac. Similarly, Verizon’s director is said to have confirmed to BusinessWeek journalists that he has met Steve Jobs himself in the past 6 months to talk about these products. If the information is confirmed, and if Verizon proves to be indeed one of Apple’s partners, it will be hard to take in for AT&T, main competitor of Verizon in the US and exclusive distributor of the HSDPA iPhone there up to now.

An iPhone Nano available ?

Could the light version of the iPhone mentioned by USA Today and BusinessWeek simply be the iPhone Nano, expected for nearly a year ?

Apple: Media Pad with a Netbook flavor ?
Same observation: could the Media Pad announced as a product half-way between the HSDPA iPhone and the Mac simply be a netbook ?
Asked about this last week, while announcing historical results for Apple, Tim Cook gave a well thought-out answer:
"When I see what is sold on the netbook market, I see tiny keyboards, low-range material, very small screens, bad software. This is not a client experience on which we would like to put Apple’s logo. As it is today, we are not interested, just like clients won’t be interested in the long run. We’re looking for space. Those who want a small computer which allows sending e-mails and browsing the Web can use an iPhone or an iPod Touch. If we find a way to make an innovative product which really leaves a trace, so we’ll make it."
When reading such an answer, one can even wonder if Steve Jobs himself dictated it. Still, if the Cupertino firm finds a way to innovate, it will jump onto this market. However, should we expect a netbook at the WWDC 2009 ?
