Legria, the new Canon range is rewarded
Earlier this year, Canon launched a brand of hi-def camcorders with flash memory: Legria. This type of camcorders is in the current trend, and we can reasonably think that HD camcorders with flash memory (built-in or card) are about to become standard. The jury of TIPA, made of techno journalists of the specialized press, therefore chose the Canon HF S10 as the best high-definition expert camcorder in 2009. And for good reason...

A high performance camcorder
The HF-S10 technical specs are indeed very appealing, with a CMOS full HD sensor of 8 Mpix. The HF S10 thus offers a sensor gifted with 3 times the usual full HD resolution, to further improve the image quality, says Canon; but careful, the output signal will always be in standard 1080i full HD. The large flow of information from the sensor will be processed by the new Digic DV III processor. A lens called "HD" with a focal range of 10x equips the HF S10 and offers ranges of 43,5-435mm in video and 40-400mm in photo (taken in 8 Mpix). Canon’s image stabilizer with large frequency range is also included.

Ergonomics for expert amateurs
The camcorder ergonomics were designed to offer expert amateurs and (semi-) professionals the manual or semi-automatic settings they like: a wheel for manual settings, a programmable button, an accessory holder (flash, mike...), a mike input, a headphone and a hi-def ouputs: HDMI and components. As for storage, on top of the possibility to put an SDHC card, the Legria HF S10 offers 32 GB of built-in flash memory.
