HP presented a new mini netbook-type PC in 10-inch format, the Mini 2140. It has a LED 10.1-inch screen with 1024 x 578 pixels and a nice scratch brushed aluminum case. Dedicated to professionals, according to the manufacturer, the HP Mini 2140 offers a 160 GB hard drive and an Intel Atom processor at 1,6 GHz. Finally, if Wi-Fi is included, the Bluetooth connection is only offered as an option, just as a 6-cell battery which gives the computer an 8-hour battery life.

HP Mini 2140, a rather tough netbook
HP seems to have focused on reliability and robustness with several points that were strengthened. The HP Mini 2140 followed the HP Total Test Process created to guarantee that conceptions, material and components comply with the most restrictive norms, according to HP. Besides, the screen is protected by an acrylic cover which gives it a strong resistance to scratches and to most shocks in standard use, while the hard drive benefits from the HP 3D DriveGuard technology which produces a signal to stop in case of sudden movement or shock. Finally, the keyboard received a DuraKeys treatment which is supposed to bring a better resistance to wear.
