Let’s start with good news: every owner of an (expensive) licence of Silver Efex Pro for Photoshop or else, can benefit from the version for Lightroom for free. That is important because nik Software is known for its prohibitive prices, indeed Silver Efex Pro is sold 195 euros VAT incl. That will give the amateur food for thought before buying the plugin. As for professionals, it is a matter of use.

Vivezza logic

As a reminder, this plugin is an extremely powerful tool to manage blacks and whites with selective retouching via the famous U-Points, the key technology of Nik Software that is also found in Vivezza (also available on Lightroom recently). But Color Efex Pro is also interesting due to its large range of special effects regarding black & white, effects which are highly configurable – and that is greatly appreciated
