New Production process

The main new feature of these new MacBook lineup is more an industrial thing rather than new specs. "The Brick" as we will call the new cases is actually dye cut in an aluminum block. This wil bring lighter and tougher cases for MacBooks but also a new freedom in creating new shapes as Apple will not have to invest in costy moulds every time they will want to redesign their computers.

Glass multitouch trackpad

A new generation of trackpad is launched in these new Mac Books : a glass pad with no button at all. You clic with a touch of your finger. He surface is smoother and the tactile sensation must be much better. The removal of all buttons have gain a pad space of 39%. Furthermore, the new pad is now bringing the same multitouch functions as you find on the iPhone. A new function allows you, with 4 fingers swap, to switch between applications as the COMMAND + TAB function does.

New LED screen

This time, all Apple's laptops will use LED display technology. This allows the creen to be thinner and lighter. But now, even on MacBook Pros, the finish of the screen will be glossy.

Better graphic power on new MacBook lineup

The biggest criticism on MacBooks, so far, was mainly on the graphic power of their chipsets. Now, MacBook family seems to be willing to improve thanks to an NVIDIA GeForce 9400M processor. Enough power to run most of the demanding applications and games, but most of only. This new chipset allows the MacBook to reach 5hours of working time on a single charge.

MiniDisplay Port

A new connection port is arriving on this generation: the Mini Display port. This is no HDMI but Apple says it offers all functions they need…. It still supports VGA and DVI displays thanks to special adaptors (optinnal of course). The new Mini Display Port is fully digital.

The new MacBooks are ranging from Intel Core 2 Duo 2,0 Ghz to 2,4 Ghz with 2 Gb of RAM. The internal hard drive space ranges from 160 GB to 250 GB.
