AF-S DX Nikkor VR ED 18-105mm lens

Today, in addition to the new D90 announcement, Nikon adds a nice versatile zoom : the AF-S DX Nikkor VR ED 18-105mm F3,5-5,6 G.

Versatile lens for Nikon D90
Its focal range of 18-105mm once mounted on a D90 or any other APS-C format Nikon camera (DX) will become a 27-157mm. Wide angle and mid-telezoom are then available from only one lens : convenient.

ED and aspherical glass
The optical built of this 18-105mm zoom lens embeds an ED glass element and an aspherical one. The optical formula is optimized for DSLR with DX mount to reduce the size and weight of the lens and to improve the image quality avoiding flare and purple fringing due to the highly reflective surface of CCD sensors.

Silent Wave Motor and VR
This 18-105mm Nikkor also offers two main features which are, to our point of view, paramount, but which could be expected on higher standard lenses. The first one is the optical image stabilization (Nikon VR) which efficiency is no longer to prove. The second one is the SWM which corresponds to ultrasonic AF motors. This leads to very high speed and silent focusing.
