5x optical zoom of the W60

If previous waterproof Pentax cameras like the W10 or W20 were somehow quite basic cameras, this year, the Optio W60 launches a new era for this segment at Pentax. It offers a well defined 10 megapixels sensor and a very efficient lens which will cover most of photographers neeeds as it is an equivalent to a 28-140mm lens. This 5x lens finally offers a real wide angle position. It is also able to shoot macro pictures as near as only 1 cm from the subject.

Tough camera

The Optio W60 is a tough camera : you can bring it down under the sea at the depth of 4m. It is JIS class 8 and will also resist to sand and dust. Therefore, it is a perfect digital mate for all outdoor activities : either at the beach, while scuba diving or skiing.

Pentax W60 smart systems
|
|
The Pentax W60 is s smart camera with a face detection system which, according to Pentax, may detect up to 32 different faces and detect smiles to shoot when the subject is smiling. Pentax even launched the closed eyes detection system which will prevent the shots where people are closing their eyes. It offers 24 different scene modes which could be too much. But, in order to offer the best user-friendliness as possible, the W60 also has a mode in which the camera itself will detect the right scene mode to use.

Price and availability of Pentax Optio W60
|
|
The Pentax Optio W60 will be available in 4 different colors with its 2,5" screen of 230 000 pixels in early July at the price of Euros 299.
