Sigma just announced this new prime lens, a super fast 50mm belonging to Sigma's "EX" top line.

A very fast lens is so helpful we recommend all SLR users to at least get one, why not in 50mm, just like this new Sigma EX lens. EX is the code named at Sigma for their professional level line of lenses. EX lenses are generally very well built and optically quite powerful. This 50mm is fast with a maximum aperture of F1.4. This means interior photos without flash and maximal control over the depth of field. Optically, this 50mm EX DG HSM uses "Super Multi Layer" treatment to fight against flare and Sigma promises us a very low vignetting phenomenon, even at the maximum aperture of F1.4. In addition to that, Sigma has offered this prime lens the ultrasonic autofocus engine system called "HSM" on Sigma lenses. This very cool 50mm EX DG HSM Sigma lens will be available with Canon, Sigma, Nikon and Sony mounts.
