Canon is n°1 : both on compact digital cameras and on DSLR. It is the 6th year in a raw Canon is number 1. On the compact digital cameras market, Canon's Ixus 70 was the best sold one on Earth with over 2,8 million pieces sold in 2007. European DSLR market is also lead by Canon's EOS 400D with over 700 000 pieces sold last year. The global market share of Canon is a huge 48,7% in 2007.

Yes, but…. 2008 could be quite different with new actors growing on the DSLR market like Olympus with the supercompact E-420 or like the yet to be announced ultra new Four Third by Panasonic or even Samsung and Pentax very attractive K20D and GX20. Nikon could also ne 2008 Canon's nightmare on SLR market with both the D300 and the D3. Actually, For the first time in years, it seems that Nikon is ahead of Canon in terms of SLR sales in January 2008. This could be the sign of a change.
