After a long successful year on stores shelves, Nikons D40 and D40x, now have their successor : the Nikon D60 has been announced at the PMA 2008. It offers a 10.2 megapixels sensor and numerous creative functions in a compact and lightweight body and will provide ease of use.
The Nikon D60 in brief
Here are the essential specs of the Nikon D60 : a10.2 megapixels sensor (no Live View). 3 points AF, exposure measure with Nikon's exclusive color matrix 3D II on 420 areas, 520 photos battery life, photos storage on SD or SDHC cards, 230 000 pixels 2.5" LCD screen and possibility to take photos in bursts mode at 3 fps. Integrated retouching functions are available under the QUICK RETOUCH menu that can adjust the color saturation, apply some effects on and optimze exposition. The integrated flash of the D60 has a guide number of 12 and the system is compatible with I-TTL. A sensor detects when the user is near to the viewfinder to turn the screen off and save battery.
Availability of Nikon D60
The Nikon D60 will be available in March 2008. Two bundles will be offered: the first one with an AF-S 18-55 mm II lens and the other has the same lens in its VR version (optically stabilized). The price is yet to be confirmed.
