The “International Engine of the Year” award has been presented annually since 1999, and an international panel of 65 motorsport journalists elect the best engines of the year in a number of different categories. German manufacturer Audi has once again been acclaimed by the judges, and the brand won the award in the “2-liter to 2.5-liter” category. The seventh consecutive award for Audi in this category.
According to the judges who voted for the Audi engine : “There are only a few engines around with such a strong character, but this five-cylinder power unit brings back memories of the unique sound of the Group B rally engine from the 1980s. The Audi 2.5 TFSI is not just impressive in terms of its superb performance, it also has a high recognition factor. Through this five-cylinder engine, Audi is allowing the 1980s dream to live on.”
Note that the Audi 2.5 TFSI engine is set to be the centerpiece of the RS Q3 and RS 3 Sportback in addition to the RS Q3 performance. Concerning the new RS performance model, Audi has increased the output of the 2.5 TFSI engine, thanks to an enhanced main radiator and an optimized fuel pump that provided an extra 27 hp of power. Audi is of course very proud to remember that this is the twelfth time that Audi has won the globally renowned prize.
