The iPad finally unveiled
As said Steve Jobs himself during this special event : there is a gap today between laptop computers and the iphone/ipod concept. Having made this statement, this was announcing what we all have been anxiously waiting for : Apple's tablet computer. Acclaimed by the crowd, Steve Jobs officially unveils the "iPad" !

iTunes, Safari Mobile XL iTunes Store....
Apple's iPad's user interface, as expected is fully touch sensitive and everything is operated through the 9.7" touch-screen. In spite of what we find in the iphone user interface, the ipad has a small menu system. It will come with iTunes, a Youtube HD video reader and browser as well as a dedicated version of Safari for the ipad : Safari mobile HD. The iPad will be able to access the iTunes Store and a very promising photo application will allow you to share your images with others. This tablet is definitely closer to a computer than to an ipod ! The virtual keyboard is pretty large and Steve Jobs showed us that we actually could use it with all our fingers from both our hands and not only with a couple of fingers as we do with an iphone. The demonstration of email writing or reading is quite enthusiastic.

Your daily newspaper on you iPad
We knew the iPad would be a huge ebook reader... well iBook readers should we say as Apple decided o launch its own nickname for electronic books. The iBook reader application comes with an... iBook store of course ! Amazon and its Kindle are targeted here. The iPad's screen will offer a much nicer comfort than what the Amazon's or Sony's ebook reader offer. The New-York Times confirms that they have been approached by Apple a few month ago to work on a mobile version of their iapp dedicated to the iPad, offering the same reading experience as the paper version. The good thing with the iBook on the iPad is that the editors will have the possibility to enclose videos into written content.

iPad : a productivity instrument
It is now also official : as we expected, the entire productivity iwork suite has been adapted to run on the iPad and to get the best out of its format and multitouch capabilities. According to Steve Jobs, Keynote is the application of iWork '10 which will benefit the most of the iSlate. Let's remind you that Keynote (Microsoft's Powerpoint equivalent) is the software designed for and by Steve Jobs himself and is proven to be an impressive way to make stunning presentation and slideshows in just a few clicks. Numbers makes it easy to create sheets in seconds with no mouse nor keyboard on the iSlate and a huge virtual numerical keypad is displayed for ease of imputing numbers. Each iWork application (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) will be sold $9.99 in its iPad version.
