Fuji HS10 lens : 30x zoom
|
The main interest of such a bridge camera is often its powerful zoom and the FinePix HS10 makes no exception to this rule featuring an incredible 24-720mm range of focal length ! The HS10 shares the world record of the widest optical range with the Olympus SP-800UZ announced earlier this week. Yet, with the same range value, the Fujifilm HS10 goes further on the wide angle side with a starting position of 24mm when the Olympus SP-800UZ starts at 26mm. FujiFim optical engineers must have has a tough task to accomplish to get a reliable and quality lens with such a lens and, to ensure us of the know-how of the company's opticians, FujiFilm kindly remind us that Fujinon lenses have been designed to be onboard a lunar satellite which is aimed at taking pictures of the Moon's surface.

Finepix HS10 : back illuminated CMOS sensor
|
The FinePix HS10 comes with a back illuminated CMOS sensor, called BIS CMOS for BackSide Illumination
Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor. Thanks to this new technology which is spreading pretty fast among many maunfacturers, the HS10 will benefit of :
- a better ISO sensitivity (almost double of a basic CMOS sensor)
- high burst rates (10 fps at 10 megapixels)
- full HD 1080p video recording with stereo sound
- 1000 fps extra smooth video capture
The 3" LCD screen of the HS10 is swiveling on one axel. You will also notice the red dot button which launches Full HD video recording.

Motion remover mode
|
|
To remove moving subjects from your shots, this mode captures 5 images of a scene in quick succession; the five images are then analysed and combined in-camera to produce a single image where anything moving in the scene has magically disappeared. Never before has capturing postcard-quality shots of tourist traps – without the tourists – been so easy.

Motion Panorama Mode
|
Captures an ultra-wide panoramic view in a single sweeping shot. As you swing the camera (left/right or up/down) the FinePix HS10 captures a series of shots in rapid succession. The shots are then stitched in-camera to produce a seamless panorama. This is the same method as what appeared on the first bridge camera to use Exmor sensor, the Sony HX1 and what we also find in the new compact camera (25-250mm zoom lens with Full HD and all the works !), the Sony HX5, announced during the PMA 2010.
